AVG Rescue CD
April 1st, 2010 by ComputerBob
Back when I was a Windows user, guru and tech support consultant, I installed a variety of security utilities to protect the Windows computers that I supported.
One of my favorites was the small, fast, free and effective AVG Antivirus.
Now AVG also offers another great, free utility: AVG Rescue CD, a bootable rescue application that will run from either a CD or a USB flash drive, to disinfect Windows PCs (Win2000 and newer) that are already infected with viruses and/or spyware.
And you don’t have to worry about it going out of date, because it connects to the AVG site before it runs, to download its latest updates.
Although it’s been a couple of years since I’ve used Windows on my own PCs, I still have an awful lot of friends who count on me to support them on their Windows PCs, so AVG Rescue CD is now part of my security toolbox.
