Are You Sure You Don’t Want…
November 26th, 2008 by ComputerBob
Everyone knows that, for almost the past 2 years, most Windows users have chosen to keep using Windows XP instead of “upgrading” to Windows Vista. XP certainly has several advantages over Vista, but when’s the last time you tried to reinstall Windows XP onto a computer?
Even if everything goes right with the installation, it’s going to be a big hassle and time-waster to have to re-download all of the Windows Updates and reinstall/reconfigure all of the antivirus, antiphishing, antispyware and various antimalware applications that you’ll need to give you a false sense that your computer is going to be secure on the Internet.
And then you’ll have to hope that the tools that you’ve chosen will be able to remove all of the bad stuff that gets past them and infects your computer anyway — or else your only recourse may be to reinstall Windows and everything else all over from scratch. Again. Here’s an example of that.
The whole thing makes one guy ask, Are You Sure You Don’t Just Want To Use Ubuntu? It’s the type of question that more and more savvy (and budget conscious) computer users are asking themselves nowadays.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention, MALsPa. And like you, I’d also prefer that it said “Linux” instead of “Ubuntu,” which is one specific Linux distro.
