Another Dark Cloud
October 11th, 2009 by ComputerBob
Regular readers of this Journal know that I don’t have much good to say about “cloud computing.”
At the top of the list of other criticisms that I’ve described here in the past, I see cloud computing as a far-less-secure throwback to the old, pre-PC days of mainframe-centric computing, when everything you did was controlled, scheduled and monitored by a central authority.
I’m betting that many T-Mobile Sidekick users are going to agree with me, now that T-Mobile has admitted that it has “almost certainly” lost all of their personal data, thanks to a Microsoft server failure.
Maybe someone should teach the T-Mobile folks how to make back-ups of their servers’ data.
