Annoying Geek Habits
March 14th, 2009 by ComputerBob
I believe that many geeks have annoying habits — but so do many non-geeks.
I admit — and I’m sure my wife would agree — that there have been times that I’ve done one or two of the things that are listed in 10 Annoying Habits Of A Geeky Spouse.
But it’s a mistake to think that geeks are a homogeneous group whose members do all of the things on that list.
In fact, I bet there are many geeks who have never done any of the things on that list.
We geeks are much more diverse than the highly-intelligent, homely, either grossly under- or over-weight, greasy-haired, taped-eyeglasses and pocket-protector-wearing, pizza-box-collecting, athletically-challenged, socially dysfunctional stereotypes with savant-like technological skills that are portrayed with scorn and ridicule in popular movies and TV shows.
Many of us are attractive, well-groomed, stylish, happily married, nutritionally balanced, athletically talented, socially skillful, well-rounded individuals.
Who also happen to be highly intelligent.
With that in mind, I’d like to add an annoying habit to that list. It’s something that I’ve never done, but that I’ve noticed many other “geek writers” do.
They claim that geeks are all fans of The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, the Star Wars series of movies , every Star Trek TV series and movie ever made, and they’re all addicted to video games.
Just for the record, I make geek-speak chic™ every day, but I’ve never cared for any of those things.
