Angelo D’Tangelo Update

Four years ago, I planted little Angelo D’Tangelo in our back yard. He was a tiny stick of a tree, only a couple feet tall. Since then, I’ve fed him, watered him, trimmed his branches, weeded the area around him, and sprayed him with stuff to kill the tiny bugs that would have otherwise eaten all of his leaves.
I also removed all of the little flowering buds that he created each spring, to prevent him from making any fruit until he was big and strong enough to be able to handle it.
This year, Angelo is four years old. He’s big and strong, so I’m letting him create about a dozen tangelos. Here’s what he looks like now, along with a closeup of Max — squinting in the bright sun just like his Dad does — showing off two of Angelo’s honeybell tangelos:
