Angelo D’Tangelo - First Fruits 2
December 22nd, 2008 by ComputerBob
My friends tell me that tangelos are ready to be picked when they “let go” of the tree as soon as you give them a gentle twist. Yesterday, two of Angelo’s tangelos were ready to be picked.
One was the size of a small grapefruit, while the other was like a large baseball.
My wife and Max and I shared Angelo’s very first tangelo ever — the big one. Max had never tasted any citrus fruit before, so he had to sniff his little half-wedge for several seconds before giving it a tentative lick. Once he tasted it, though, he gobbled it down with joy.
It was sweet and very, very juicy.
As more tangelos mature, we’ll be sharing them with our closest friends.
Angelo is “all grown up” now, so next year, I’m going to let him make as many tangelos as he wants.
