A Gathering Storm?

It’s extremely controversial.
It’s extremely provocative.
But if it turns out to be true, then I think that a lot of powerful scientific and political heads should roll.
A few days ago, a hacker broke into a climate-research computer and publicly released what has been variously reported as between 60 and 160 megabytes of confidential data, including 1079 email messages and 72 documents. Some of that data reportedly indicates that global warming proponents have long consipired to falsify climatological data, hide and destroy contradictory data, and discredit and silence anyone who questions or challenges their theories — all for the purpose of promoting a political agenda.
At least one expert predicts that this could turn out to be the greatest scandal in modern science.
I don’t want to be accused of pushing my own agenda, so I’m not going to link to any particular new story about it.
But if you do a search for “Climategate” in your favorite search engine, you’ll quickly learn enough to at least make you want to find out if it’s true.
