A Cup Of Joe To Go
December 12th, 2008 by ComputerBob
I know a lot of people who claim that they can’t think straight until they’ve had their morning coffee each day — and then they need repeated jolts of caffeine during the day to keep them alert. As a result, restaurants end up fighting to take each other’s lucrative coffee customers.
I’ve never been a coffee drinker. When I was a teenager, it seemed like everyone around me was, so I tried it in order to fit in — like when I worked in the produce department of a grocery store that provided it free-of-charge in its break room — but the only way I could stand it was to mix it half and half with milk and lots of sugar. That earned me the ridicule of several “real” coffee drinkers, so I gave it up.
Though I’m glad to not have that particular addiction, I wonder if it would increase the world’s consumption of coffee if everyone smelled it all the time, everywhere they went.
We may find out before too long.
