61 Free Apps
November 27th, 2009 by ComputerBob
I hope that you’re still finding things to be thankful about, even though it’s the day after Thanksgiving, so no one’s running around, reminding you to do it.
As Linux user, I’m thankful that Linux gives me a completely free, secure, powerful, customizable operating system that — although it looks and works a lot like Windows — doesn’t restrict my rights as a user and that comes with hundreds of free, open-source applications and utilities, along with the ability to easily download and install thousands more.
But you don’t have to be a Linux user to benefit from free (and open-source) applications. In fact, here are 61 free apps for Windows — some them also have a Linux version, a few of them are platform-independent web-based apps or plug-ins, and for some reason that I don’t understand, the list includes one “app” that is actually not an app at all, but an entire Linux distro (Ubuntu).
