Survival Kit
In our fast-paced, instant-everything, don't-blink society, we must find our center to keep our balance. It's not easy, but
it's worth the effort. Here are a few final tips to think about as you travel on your journey called life:
- Smile every day. Laugh a lot. Find a giggle-partner.
- Embrace a faith-based belief in possibilities -- even miracles!
- Let go of old hurts. Aunt Tilly was wrong 30 years ago when she said you were an ugly duckling!
- Let go of toxic, dead or draining relationships. Transfer that energy to your loved ones.
- Eat more chocolate.
- Stop trying to live up to the expectations of others. Chart your own course.
- Expect goodness.
- Wear comfortable shoes.
- Forgive yourself. Mistakes are simply learning exercises.
- Find your own heaven and visit it often, if only in your dreams!
- Identify true friends. Cherish them.
- Tell those you love just how much you love them.
- Never keep score.
- Don't believe your own press clippings.
- Be cognizant of the Spirit that lives within and around you.
- Turn off the beeper and cell phone when on personal time; e-mail will wait.
- Give yourself permission to slow down as you age. It's OK to be weary.
- Pet your pet.
- Over-chewed gum loses its flavor. The same principle applies in life. Retire wisely.
- Choose partners well. Show and tell them how much you appreciate their place in your life.
- Wear funky clothes occasionally.
- Reconnect with an old friend who has drifted out of your Rolodex.
- Celebrate success -- your own and others.
- Never shoot down someone else's dream; never sabotage anyone or anything.
- Dream big. Try it, if it flops, learn from it and try a new approach or different timing.
- Be flexible in the face of change.
- Hug your kids -- again and again.
- Eat even more chocolate.
